Inspired by the natural beauty and diversity of the spectacular Hudson River, the Second Annual Hook Mountain Challenge is a unique six-mile boat race with all proceeds going to charity.
Dedicated to raising awareness about renewable river resources and aid two deserving local organizations, The Nyack American Red Cross and The Nyack Homeless Project, this exciting event brings people together to enrich Hudson Valley communities: American Red Cross in Greater New York and the Nyack Homeless Project.
The American Red Cross Metro NY Region is a non-profit humanitarian organization led by volunteers that respond to emergencies. In 2010 alone, the American Red Cross Metro NY Region responded to more than 2200 disasters. In Rockland County, locally trained Red Cross volunteers assisted over 200 adults and children with financial assistance, food, shelter, and counseling following fires, floods or other emergencies. www.nyredcross.org
The Nyack Homeless Project, Ltd. is a non-profit, 5013c non-sectarian volunteer group that encourages adults, children and teens to make a difference by involving them with their communities to gather donations to feed and clothe men, women, families and children in need in Rockland County and New York City during the cold days of winter. They are committed to help as many people as possible without thought of remuneration, politics, or gratitude. In 2010 The NHP fed and clothed over 6500. www.nyackhp.org
The Hook Mountain Challenge, a paddle race from Nyack Memorial Park to Hook Mountain allows experienced paddlers, their friends, and families to enjoy a leisurely and fun afternoon in this beautiful Hudson Valley Region and give back to those in need. Cllck here for map.
